A bit about me...

Hi, my name is Dan Carey and welcome to Carey Bespoke Woodcraft.

I've always been inspired by the work of talented craftsmen (and women) and with my Dad being a carpenter, I grew up surrounded by the beautiful versatility of wood.

As an engineer by trade, I'm no stranger to getting stuck in working with my hands (and getting in a mess!) but working with the medium of wood was a completely new experience. Having the opportunity to steal a bit of time my Dad's Essex workshop during the lockdowns, was really how my love of woodwork took off.

Using tools that have been in the family for generations, I tried my hand at woodturning and I soon found that this 'lockdown hobby' was actually something I loved to do. And the joy that I got, was made all the more special when I started giving my creations as gifts to family and friends. From this, people started asking me to make them something too... and their friends... and then their friends' friends. So I decided that it was something I wanted to pursue more, which was how Carey Bespoke Woodcraft was born.
